Will my dog stop barking completely?

The Bark Control Collar effectively and humanely stops all barking when it is worn. It should only be worn during periods of unwanted barking.
 

Will another dog's bark set off the Bark Control Collar?

No
 

Is the Bark Control Collar safe and humane?

Yes. The Bark Control Collar is designed to get your dog's attention, not to punish him. However, the initial Static Correction may startle your dog.
 

Will the Bark Control Collar work for my dog?

The Bark Control Collar is safe and effective for all breeds and sizes of dogs, though it may be too large for dogs under 8 pounds to wear comfortably.

How old does my pet have to be before starting training on the PetSafe Stay + Play Wireless Fence?

Because all pets are different, training on this system can be started once your pet can learn basic obedience commands like "sit" and "stay". The system should only be used with pets who are over 6 months of age. If your pet is injured or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact your veterinarian or professional trainer before use.
 

Is the Receiver Collar waterproof?

Yes
 

Will the PetSafe Wireless Pet Containment System cover a larger circle than 64m across?

You can use another wireless Transmitter with overlapping boundaries of at least 2m to 3m to get a larger Pet Area.
 

Will a sloping garden affect the Pet Area?

The Transmitter signal extends 32m in all directions. A sloping garden can cause the Pet Area to appear less or more than expected. Consider repositioning the Transmitter to maximise your Pet Area.
 

Can I use more than one Receiver Collar with the Stay + Play Wireless Fence?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of pets you can contain with the Stay + Play Wireless Fence. You must purchase an additional Receiver Collar for each pet.
 

Will the Stay + Play Wireless Fence keep other pets out of my garden?

No. The Wireless System is only effective on pets who wear the Receiver Collar.
 

Is there a hand-held remote Transmitter that will work with the Stay + Play Wireless Fence Receiver Collar?

No. You would need to purchase a separate Remote Training System.
 

Is there a smaller Receiver Collar or another compatible Receiver Collar that I can use with the wireless Transmitter?

No.

Can I use the Stay + Play Wireless Fence on an aggressive pet?

This product is not for use with aggressive pets. If you are unsure if your dog is aggressive, please contact your veterinarian or a certified trainer.
 

Can I use the Stay + Play Wireless Fence on a cat?

The Stay + Play Wireless Fence can be used as long as the cat can comfortably wear the Receiver Collar.
 

What happens if the power is cut?

The Stay + Play Wireless Fence is designed to recognise power cuts and shuts down without activating the Receiver Collar. However, if your pet is near the Boundary Zone during the power failure, he may receive a Static Stimulation. The Transmitter will sound an intermittent alarm for up to 30minutes to alert you to the power failure.
 

If my pet leaves the Pet Area, for how long will he be corrected?

Battery life depends on how frequently your pet tests the Boundary Zone. The Receiver Indicator Light acts as a low battery indicator, flashing ever 4 to 5 seconds when replacement is required.
 

Can I place the Receiver on another collar?

Yes, You may use any 1.9cm, non-metallic collar.
 

Do I need to perform maintenance on my Stay + Play Wireless Fence?

• Check your pet's neck daily for irritation from the Contact Points.
• Check the Contact Points on the Receiver Collar weekly to make sure they are tight and clean.
• Check the fit of the Receiver Collar weekly.
• The Receiver Indicator Light acts as a low battery indicator, flashing every 4 to 5 seconds when replacement is required.

How do I know the battery in the Receiver Collar is still working?

Check Receiver Indicator Light.
 

Will vehicles, buildings and landscape features (trees, shrubs, etc.) affect the performance of the Stay + Play Wireless Fence?

• Yes, Placing the Transmitter inside a metal building can reduce the maximum range of the Wireless System.
• Parking a vehicle within the Pet Area, can reduce the range of the system and cause your pet to receive a Static Stimulation where it otherwise would not if the vehicle was not there.
• Fixed large metal objects such as metal sheds can affect the signal by reducing the maximum range of the system at the location of the object. As a result, your pet may receive a Static Stimulation.

What do I do if my pet's neck becomes red and irritated?

This condition is due to the Contact Points irritating the skin. Discontinue use of the Receiver Collar for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian. Once the skin returns to normal, replace the Receiver Collar and monitor the skin condition closely.
 

Can I attach a lead to the Receiver Collar?

No. This can result in pulling the Contact Points too tightly against your pet's neck. Attach a lead to a separate, non-metallic collar positioned above the Receiver Collar.
 

FAQs for Containment Systems

How old should the dog be before training it to the system?

Leading animal behaviourist / vets recommend the dog be 4 to 5 months old before being trained to the system.
 

How close to the wire can the dog go?

Once the boundary wire is in place, the "distance" (field width) control is set so that the collar unit gives the warning "buzzing" sound when it is about one metre from the wire. It can be set for further away if you decide.
 

What do we do to take the dog out of the containment area to go for a walk or in the car?

Take the containment collar off the dog and put the normal collar with the tag on and the dog will be happy to go with you across the wire. The dog associates the whole thing by wearing the containment collar unit. Come back home and put the containment collar back on and the dog will say to itself "Oh dear!! I have that jolly box on my collar so I am NOT going over there" (across the wire).
 

NB: The wire containment systems are priced with 150m boundary wire (enough to cover 1/4 acre).

The SD-2000 system can take wire for up to 5 acres.
The PetSafe's model PRF-3004W can take wire for up to 10 acres

Is the Static Stimulation safe for my pet?

While the Static Stimulation is unpleasant, it is harmless to your pet. Electronic training devices require interaction and training from the owner to achieve desired results.

How old does a pet have to be before using the PetSafe ST-100 Remote Trainer?

Your pet should be able to recognise basic obedience commands such as "sit" or "stay". The system should only be used with pets who are over 6 months of age. The Receiver Collar may be too large for dogs under 3.6kg. If your pet is injured or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact your veterinarian or professional trainer before use.

Once my pet is trained and has been obeying my commands, will he have to continue to wear the Receiver Collar?

Probably not. He may need to wear the Receiver Collar from time to time for reinforcement.

Is the Receiver Collar waterproof?

Yes. When changing the batteries, be sure to keep the area free of dirt and debris. Also, make sure the screws are flush with the Battery Lid.
 

Will I get exactly 100m of range with the PetSafe ST-100 Remote Trainer?

The range you get with your PetSafe ST-100 Remote Trainer will vary according to terrain, weather, vegetation, as well as transmission from other radio devices. To get the maximum amount of range, hold the Remote Transmitter in a horizontal position away from your body.

How long can I continuously deliver Static Stimulation to my pet?

The maximum amount of time you can press the Stimulation Button and deliver Static Stimulation to your pet continuously is 12 seconds. After this, the Remote Transmitter will time-out and the Stimulation Button must be released and pressed again.
 

Can I use the PetSafe ST-100 Remote Trainers on aggressive pets?

We do not recommend any of our products be used on aggressive pets. We recommend you contact your local veterinarian or professional trainer to determine if your pet might be aggressive.

Is the stimulation safe for my dog?

While Continuous and/or Momentary stimulation may be unpleasant, it is harmless to your dog. Electronic training devices require interaction and training from the owner to achieve desired results.

How old does a dog have to be before using the SportTrainer?

The system should only be used with pets who are over 6 months of age. If your pet is injured or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact your veterinarian or professional trainer before use. Your dog should be able to learn basic obedience commands such as "sit" or "stay". The Collar Receiver may be too large for dogs under 3.6kg.

Once my dog is trained and has been obeying my commands, will my dog have to continue to wear the  Collar Receiver?

Your dog may need to wear the Collar Receiver from time to time for reinforcement. Also, many hunters keep the Collar Receiver on their dogs while hunting for maximum control.

Is the Collar Receiver waterproof?

Yes. If the rechargeable battery pack ever needs to be replaced, make sure the o-ring and o-ring groove are free from dirt and debris.

Can my Collar Receiver be used around salt water?

If the Collar Receiver is used in or around salt water, the Collar Receiver should be rinsed with fresh water following each use.

Can I use the SportTrainer with more than one dog (up to 3 or 6)?

Yes. SportDOG Add-A-Dog Collar Receivers must be purchased.

Can I use the SportTrainer SD-1225E on aggressive dogs?

We do not recommend any of our products to be used on aggressive dogs. We recommend you contact your local veterinarian or professional trainer to determine if your dog might be aggressive.

Will I get exactly 1200m of range with the SportTrainer SD-1225E?

The range you get with your SportTrainer SD-1225E will vary according to terrain, weather, vegetation, as well as transmission from other radio devices.

How long can I continuously deliver stimulation to my dog?

The maximum amount of time you can press the Continuous Stimulation Button and deliver stimulation to your dog continuously is 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, the Remote Transmitter will "time-out" and the Continuous Stimulation Button must be released and pressed again.

What do I do if my dog's neck becomes red and irritated?

This condition, pressure necrosis, is due to the Contact Points irritating the skin. Discontinue use of the Collar Receiver for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian. Once the skin returns to normal, resume use, and monitor the skin condition closely.

The Intensity Dial seems difficult to rotate, is this normal?

Yes, This prevents accidental changes in intensity and encourages an optimal waterproof seal. The knob will "break in" and be slightly easier to turn as you use it.

Can I attach a lead to the SportTrainer SD-1225E?

Do not attach a lead to the SportTrainer SD-1225E. You may put a separate non-metallic collar on your dog's neck and attach a lead. Be sure the extra collar does not interfere with the Contact Points.

Can I program my SportTrainer SD-1225E to work with my other SportDOG Brand systems?

Yes. You can program your SportTrainer SD-1225E to work with the SD-1825E system, but because it operates at a different frequency, it is not backwards compatible with any other SportDOG Brand systems.
